 THE INDOMITABLE FATHER daughter duo of Tim McQuay and Mandy
McCutcheon made history last December 6 when they both rode into the spotlight of the sport’s greatest contest—the finals of the 2008 NRHA Open Futurity and the Cinch®/NRHA Non Pro Futurity.
For the “Mc” families, it was an emotional 24 hours with McCutcheon landing the non pro title on Friday and McQuay the open on Saturday.
McCutcheon, Aubrey, Texas, with five non pro Futurity titles to her credit, is the first and only non pro and female Million Dollar Rider. She also happens to bemarried to one of NRHA’s elite, Million Dollar Rider Tom McCutcheon.
Hermount was Smart Scat, owned by her brother-in law James McCutcheon, Valley View,Texas. The pair posted a 219.5 in the finals for $41,550 in prize money. Smart Scat is by the McCutcheons’ stallion Smart Starbuck and out of Scats Frecklefoot. |
